day two: a cup of milk

in zambia, south africa lives this beautiful girl.

her name is concillia and she is a precious girl who i got to spend a week with a few summers ago. she loves to dance and i remember her laugh. one day she was sitting in my lap and she said something to me with a big smile on her face. i asked the translator to tell me what she said. and she told me she said

"i love you like a cup of milk"

concillia doesn't get milk very often, maybe only a few times in her life. she loved me like something that was so precious to her. i was overwhelmed. i was humbled. i was convicted.

do i love people in the same way i love that which is most precious to me?
do i love people more than that?
it's what i want.
it's what i'm trying to do...

to love people more than i love (________) or a cup of milk.

i like that way of thinking of it! it's simple yet so profound.
