a lot of the world has heard their story because oprah has invited them to come onto her show and the today show too. it is because their son was extraordinary and lived well, but also because they, as his parents, loved well. love takes on all different kinds of shapes and forms, but there is something about this kind of love that makes me want to press into the difficult stuff that life brings and not shy away. i don't know matt or ginny very well, i've met them at little bread and seen them around town. i follow them on twitter because we have a ton of friends in common and someday i hope to get coffee with them. i would just tell them what their story has meant to me and how much i respect them. i grieve for them and know that everyday is a mingling of both joy & sorrow.
their story has helped me to find a deeper love for Jesus, though i understand him less. odds are, they are still learning how to love, but they have got it right with their son and the world is better because of it. to this precious family, whom i know only from afar, thank you for allowing us into your story. for loving well and making the rest of us want to do the same.
