oil spill.

good morning america this morning has haunted my mind with images of the horrific effects the oil spill has had on the ocean & it's inhabitants. it makes my heart sick to think about it.

as i looked at the pictures on the television this morning i was taken back to the days of saved by the bell. do you remember that episode where there was drilling on the football field and the animals in the pond suffered from the oil spill? let's forget for a second that stuff like that doesn't ever really happen and relate it to what is actually happening. i remember zach & screech working diligently to clean off a duck while jessie was strapped to an oil rig as an attempt to protest. they became passionate about the devastation that was around them.

aside: though the show was absolutely ridiculous, the fact that i remember such details reveals that it was an important part of my childhood :)

but thinking about that show and then realizing that oil covered wildlife is currently a reality, not to mention the devastation that is or might occur to the beaches. it makes me want to not ignore what happened. there isn't much i can do to help, but i want to figure out something to do. i am completely unsure of what we are to learn from an experience like this, but i know there is much.

i pray for the fisherman and thousands of other lives that are impacted due to this tragedy. may good come from it somehow. if only it could end like the saved by the bell episode.

"Stop the drilling! Stop the oil!" That is what the Bayside gang chanted over and over as they protested. Laughed when I read this. Love the Saved by the Bell reference and I'll have you know that I have been watching it every morning at 6:30 as I get ready for work. It's a pretty fantastic way to start the day.
