twenty years ago my life changed forever.
i was a 4.75 year old girl with two older brothers. my dream was for a sister. i'm sure i prayed about it & i know i asked my mom for it. obviously, i don't remember much about the birth of my little brother except that i was mad he wasn't a girl and even more mad that i lost a bet of peanut butter cookies to my older brothers, but that's another story for another day.
andrew alexander, entered the hill family and none of us have been the same since. he was such a cute baby, as you can see.
he continued to be my "little" brother and didn't pass me in height until i moved to college. at some point along the way, andrew became dru. he was funny even then.
he grew tall, really tall actually. too tall for our family.
out of this growth spurt came a hilarious guy who i am eternally grateful to call my brother.
he learned to join in with his older brothers as they were always willing to make fun of me. head tilt & all...

even though he is quite the joker, there was this one time he was willing to take one for the team by wearing matching mickey graduate hats with me. they weren't a joke. he graduated from high school the year i graduated from college and our parents brought us these hats back from disney world. we laughed, put them on, and posed for a picture. they have our names monogrammed on them, just so you know and so you can be jealous. because of college we did not live in the same town for 4 years, but we became better friends that way. you know, absence makes the heart grow fonder! ha!

obviously, i LOVED that we ended up in the same town for the last 2 years. grad school would not be the same for me if it weren't for living in the same place as dru hill. he is funny & he makes family dinners worth the time. if you would like to be invited to family dinners let me know. we're always willing to add a few more.
he makes me laugh, ALL THE TIME. seriously. if one photo encompasses mine & dru's relationship it is the one below.
he is the greatest guitar hero player i know. and unfortunately i'm not just saying that. i lose every time we play. i take that back, i won ONE TIME, it was one of the greatest days of my life to date.
i say stupid things and he lets me know it. normally beginning with one of the following nicknames: sav, clownfish, nemo, donkey.
he is always willing to say off the wall things solely for purpose of having a good story & often we get a picture to go along with it.
he is twenty today & i cannot believe it. if you aren't friends with dru yet, you should make that happen. he loves to dance, he loves to laugh, and he has a nickname for everyone. twenty years ago i would have NEVER dreamed how thankful i could be.

i guess you could say, i'm glad he wasn't a she.
he gets buckets.
happy birthday to my favorite little brother.
love you, mean it!
