a little confession

i love jesus. a lot actually.
i love the bible a lot too. but i am not very good at the discipline of reading it. richard foster & danielle ochs have consistently challenged me in the need for scripture memorization in my life. my note card box of verses is a fun companion that is too often ignored, but once i get in the habit of it, i love it, but getting in the habit is hard. if only it were as easy as biting my nails. i digress.

but one of the things i LOVE about the bible is the adventure of reading it. it's familiar like an old book that i've read many, many times, but strangely new in the sense that every time i read it i find something that i never remembering reading before. and i am so thankful for that.

i write this post for two reasons. one to confess that i wish i were more faithful to scripture and two to say that despite my lack of faithfulness HE is faithful to continue to teach me. his unfailing love draws me back every time.

my favorite of the week that speaks of this love is from the fantastic psalm 62:8-12

"trust in him at all times, o people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us...Once God has spoken, twice have I heard this: that you, O God are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving."

He is strong. He is loving. He is faithful.
all of things that I am not, but so desire to be.

i'm trying to kick the habit of biting my nails so maybe i should figure out a way to trade one habit for another, you know, one that would actually benefit me...like the words of Jesus :)

we'll see what happens.

Sav, We may be soul mates. I made a commitment to myself this past weekend to start memorizing scripture again ... not memorization necessarily ... but the process of writing it on my heart. My two verses this week, Joshua 1:9 and Gal. 1:10. I made 3 sets of cards. One taped to the bathroom mirror, one set on the dash of my car, and other in my book bag. I think its a great way to for me to continue to strive to fall more in love with Jesus. Thanks for always being an encouragement to me in my faith!
Love you girl!
