meet egypt.

amy is my friend from egypt. i call her egypt because there were just too many girls born from 1982-1986 named amy, thus she got a nickname within a few hours of us meeting and it has stuck. 

egypt was my first friend i made in grad school. the first day of class began with me standing outside of the wrong room, wondering how i was ever going to find my class. pretty typical for yours truly. 

while standing outside this room contemplating my options for what exactly i was going to do. a girl & a boy walk up. it was egypt & her fiance, fadi. we made small talk & then introduced ourselves, discovering that we were in the same class and both in the wrong place. it was funny. as we were standing out in the hallway, i immediately discovered she had an accent so i asked her where she was from. "egypt", she responds.  

i was speechless. 

how did a girl from egypt find out about a school in Siloam Springs, AR. more importantly, why did she come here. so being the girl that i am, i didn't hesitate to ask that as well. she responds with something that shocked & blessed my heart. egypt asked if i had ever heard of kanakuk kamps. i flipped out because i had just left there 7 days earlier & it is one of my all time favorite places on earth. i would have never guessed that the first person i talked to in grad school would know about it. not only did egypt know about, but kamp was the reason she decided to come to JBU. she was a kamper at K2 and joe white recommended the program to her. 

i couldn't believe how small of a world it was. 

we became pretty instant friends. 

throughout the last 2 years, egypt has been a loyal & true friend. we have shared an internship this last year at youth bridge. we have laughed & cried through the uncertainties of being a counselor. we dominated 12 hours of class last semester without much sleep at all. she is a precious friend. 

she will be leaving in 2 days to fly to egypt to marry the love of her life, fadi. 

i could not be more excited for those two to begin the adventure of married life, but egypt will be missed terribly around here. she is steadfast and so much fun. my heart is full because of the friendship i found with egypt. it has been an honor & joy to survive grad school with her. she has taught me many things and i will be eternally grateful for the kamp girl that i was able to get my master's with. 

egypt, i hope your flight is safe and that the next few weeks are SO fun as you prepare for the next & greatest adventure of your life: becoming a wife. 

you are beautiful on the inside & out.
