the jersey house

so we're all moved in with the exception of meg. i have been busy painting, unpacking, and visiting antique stores (in the midst of work & Ph.D) i have come across some wonderful treasures that with a little bit of paint have become like new! it has been really fun. there are still a few things to be done and details to be added, but those will just come as the weeks go by. these pictures are mostly for meg so that she can see where she'll be living, but to the rest of you thanks for checking out the jersey house!

a little black paint goes a long way! this piece of furniture was in my room growing up and so my parents gave it to me. i painted it with the help of mallory and added two vintage knobs. now it's our entertainment center!

the aqua coat hanger on the wall was a 0.75 cent find from the potter's house. a little fun paint and i think it's the perfect little accent for that corner.

my parent's gave me this chair as a house warming gift & we LOVE it!

i painted the kitchen table yellow, i know. i know. who paints their table yellow? well, i do. i figure it's probably the only time i can get away with a yellow table so why not! :)

the chalk board behind the table was another great deal! the barnwood frame came from my favorite antique store: olives & daisies for $15. i bought chalkboard spray paint and a piece of wood and a chalkboard was made. roll call will have hours of entertainment via the board.

i got this frame from potter's house for $4 and decided to paint it the aqua color as well. i had wanted to make it a mirror, but having a mirror cut is apparently pretty expensive so it has become a pseudo-bulletin board.

and here is my makeshift island from olives & daisies with two bar stools that my mom gave me which i just spray painted black. it is probably my favorite find for the new house. i LOVE it.

this piano is beautiful. nate & amy were given it for free and it weighs a TON, so i inherited it. God bless the crew that helps me move to my next place because it will be coming with me.

i'll post pictures of my room once curtains have been decided on. it's been fun to make a home with a hodge podge of furniture and a little paint! i pray this house is a home where many feel welcome. it is my hope that community be built here & lots of laughs be had.
