home.

the last two days have been full of airports, new people, a new school, intimidation, humility, hilarious stories, a canadian, and a partridge in a pear tree.

obviously the last was just thrown in for good measure.

i traveled to virginia beach to interview for a distant PhD program in counselor education. the interview was a full day with a lot of questions. i met a lot of elite academic individuals and felt a little out of place. the school did a wonderful job setting up the interview and it was an honor to get to participate in the day. now i just wait to hear. though i’d like to know, there is something a little fun about the waiting. it becomes about expectations. about dreaming. and about living today for what it is.

i’m currently sitting on a plane (obviously this will not post until i am on the ground) but i’m sitting on a plane surrounded by people who are going somewhere. maybe home. maybe to an interview. maybe on a vacation. maybe to visit family. maybe to a funeral.

everyone is going somewhere, always. and it makes me think about the beautiful truth that after we go somewhere we get to go home. home to our own beds, people who know us & love us anyway, to a kitchen where we can cook our own food rather than rely on fast food.

i love traveling. i love meeting people and seeing new places. but i LOVE coming home.

i might be prone to wander, but i sure do love when i quit & just return to the place where everybody knows my name. home is where my expectations and dreams find some rest.

it is where i get to live today & i love that.

Hi! I found your blog through Kelly's Korner. It's adorable. I know what you mean about being home. I went home this weekend and I had such a good time. I just feel so safe and secure there.
