i'm only good at being young, but...

...now i'm twenty five.

i adore my family & friends and had a great day celebrating another year of life. a life that i am so thankful for even in the midst of confusion and questions, joy and laughter.

as my little brother so eloquently told me, "sav, life called and wants you to live it!"

so i'm living it and now i get to live it with a fun new pullover & other fall wear. apparently the rust & brown shade was the theme of my birthday presents (see exhibit a) i'm okay with it because it matches my hair. did i really just admit to that? yes, i did and if you quit reading my blog i wouldn't blame you.

i'm currently in nashville. a city that i love more and more every time i come. i will live here someday, i just know it. it feels a little like home and that is both strange and good. it is home to my best friend's family who i hope to hang out with for a little bit while i'm here. meg & her family are just people that you want to spend every moment you can with. maybe they make nashville seem familiar.

i'm writing from the opryland hotel which is a ridiculous landmark. there is no way i'll be able to get back to my room without looking at a map each time. despite the layout it really is a beautiful place and the conference is so far, so good. i'm catching up on emails and things from the day. it was great to hear from john piper tonight. but my favorite by far was amy grant.

heart in motion solidified my devotion to her even though i think i was four when it was released. but that is not the point, that's another post for another day.

she spoke & sang tonight and everything she said just resonated with me. i wish i could have been strumming a guitar with her just talking about life. she was genuine and funny while sharing her love for Jesus and her questions about this life.

while talking about an interview she did for an upcoming magazine article, she was asked about God's plan for her life and her plan for ministry, she said something that is absolutely worth quoting...

"i can be fueled up and ready to go, but it could be all about me and my plan and nothing about what He wants me to do, but if we lean into him continually, He will do something bigger than our plan. in the mean time i'm going to keep making eggs and strumming my guitar and trust Him..."

and with that i will just say me too and goodnight.
