yesterday 8.10.09 marked the four year anniversary of the death of sally. sally was 14 and was the best friend of morgan and megan (all pictured above)these girls were my kampers at k-west & i adore them. the jet skiing accident happened in tyler, texas and was a day i will never forget. i had the honor of walking with these girls through the loss of their best friend.
we cried. we remembered. we laughed.
i was twenty. they were fourteen. that week taught me things that changed my life forever.
i learned more about loving people through that experience than any other i have ever had.
morgan & megan will forever be two of my most treasured friendships. they are moving to college within in the next few weeks...i cannot believe it.
today, i remember four years ago and all that has happened since.
today, i am thankful for the beauty found in the ashes.
though i don't understand all of God's ways, i know this. He was good four years ago and He is good today, in seasons of great joy or great loss. He understands, we don't have to.
sally, you are loved & missed by so many people. thank you for the impact that you had on my life through your death. you really do shine.
morgan & megan, thank you for being two of my favorite people in the world and trusting me with your story throughout the last four years. can't wait to see what the next four hold.
