oh my soul.

i'm going to start a new tradition of writing about some of you who have been such an incredible part of my life. Because of the love & grace of my friends and family, i KNOW & LOVE the Lord more. oh my soul, He has given me the best friends.

today i celebrate meg. she is my best friend & it is her birthday.

a little about our friendship. we met at k-west a few summers ago, she was one of the counselors in my section and was in my small group. we were immediate friends though the depth of our friendship took time. her brother got married a day before she came to work for term 2 and it was in that conversation that we realized we shared a love for brothers. from that moment on, there has been nothing that we don't talk about.

meg is willing to go deep in both heart & soul with her friends. she'll dig in and won't shy away from hurt or pain. she loves well and she has wisdom beyond her years. life has not been fair to her, but she gladly trades those ashes in for beauty and choosing JOY has become her theme.
meg willingly embarked on the adventure of a hill family vacation last march. my family adores her & my brothers talk to her almost as much as i do. okay, that's not exactly true. there are moments when she feels like a sister that God forgot to give me.

however, though she's not really my sister, i can say that meg is my soul sister. she walked through the terrifying ordeal of a diagnosis of a tumor & surgery, she has laughed with me and always been willing to listen. oh, and she has faithfully challenged me to fall more in love with Jesus because He is more than enough. she has made me realize that it is true that "friendship is the giving and taking of hurts". meg is the friend that everyone should have; she is intentional, gracious, and hilarious.

i could go on & on about the joy of her friendship. but rather i'll just say that my heart is full of gratitude to a God who knew we should be friends.
margaret, being your friend has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

here's to 75 more years of friendship...
