normally i don't blog two days in a row. actually i don't think i've ever done it, but that doesn't really matter to any of you.
preface: i work at jbu as a graduate assistant. i park in the same parking lot everyday and thus walk the same path everyday to my office. along my path is an overhang that is made of glass. almost daily i see a dead bird right below the window. as the story goes, the birds are flying along, they don't know that a window is in front of them, and before they know it "BAM!" to the birds' credit, i can see how the bird might get confused. basically, this piece of glass is a death trap for these flying creatures. it's truly unfortunate.
yesterday, we said goodbye to a lil' blue bird.
this morning i'm walking along, minding my business when a couple of guys, they were up to no good (oh wait, that's fresh prince) i digress.
as i was approaching this sacred ground where so many birds lose their life i noticed the newest victim, we'll name him gus. i was a little sad thinking about yet another bird biting the dust, but as i got closer i noticed he was still alive. gus had survived the crash. he was/is injured. poor little guy was struggling, but none the less breathing. since i am not remotely educated in treating bird injuries, i just decided to move gus off the path so he would not be stepped on. gus is safely in a flower bed where i hope he can recover and fly again. for you cynics out there who want to tell me he will die in the flower bed, i will refuse to believe you.
gus is a survivor.
