and i think to myself...

october. i love it. without a doubt october 15th to january 2nd is my favorite time of year. the weather is fabulous, the colors of the trees make me wish i could climb them all, and the fact that we have four holidays in such a short amount of time makes me giddy.

it's almost too much for me to handle.

though there is so much beauty in this time of year, there is an ever-lingering temptation to get caught up in how much there is to do. however, the change in seasons seems to speak softly of the ability to take it all in. i want to spend time with friends and family. i want to be grateful, to walk among the leaves falling and remember how creation speaks of His faithfulness. it's a reminder to me to slow down. things will get finished and if they don't, it will be okay.

before we know it, frost will cover the ground, the trees will be bare, and we will be yearning for spring. but today, i will treasure the creativity He displays in this season. i'll roll my windows down, turn up the music, and carve a pumpkin. my friends and family will be more of a priority than checking off the things on my to-do list. and i'll think to myself...

what a wonderful world.
